Speaking of shows, I’ll be at the Unique LA Local Love Event in a week and a half. I just got the layout for vendors and will be near Eva Franco. This could be a bad thing, staring at her collection for two days. I may not go home with any profit. Regardless, Unique never disappoints, so I hope to see you there. By the way, we will be set up across from the free cocktails. Just sayin’.

Next up is Patchwork Long Beach, May 15. This show has a nice mellow vibe. It’s outdoors right by the water, as well as great music, food and of course shopping.

And finishing up the month is a first time show for me, the Silver Lake Jubilee May 21 & 22. This one is just a big party; bands, comedians, food and local artists, and it is all day and into the night. I’ll be sharing a booth with Hi Tree too!

I get a similar feeling every time I go to our local farmer’s market.

Walking between the stands you can still smell the earth the root vegetables have been pulled up from. In fact, you can still see dirt on them or an apple with a little bit of tree left on it. I find that comforting, produce that are perfectly imperfect, not with a fresh coat of wax on it.

Then I see it…..a vegetable I’ve never seen before….amazing! Then there are always new colors of the same old stuff we’ve seen for years….brilliant! Here are a few edibles I found to be noteworthy, as well as some equally delicious, but not so edible, counterparts:

The yellow cauliflower roasted up nicely and a bunch of parsnips (which I’ve never eaten before) made a yummy, creamy soup. Looking forward to my next visit to the farmer’s market.

So this marks the official launch of my new website and blog, and a growth spurt. It’s been a month and a half project (with the help of Tara) and one of many adventures encountered since starting my business 1 1/2 years ago. I thought I would just be making jewelry, but that was the easy part. So stop by every now and then because I want to share with you my experiences, my process and what I do all day, and the things that make me smile. I’ll probably mention coffee and my dogs once in a while too.
